The series “Garden”, started in 2023 and continuing today, is inspired by the image of the World Tree — an archetype that unites different cultures. In the context of Ukrainian tradition, the Tree of Life is a structure of being, a symbol of generational continuity, family memory, and the spiritual center of the world. Its image was widespread in wedding embroidery, wall painting, and wood carving.

The wall sculptures “Trees of Life” are created from gypsum, construction mesh, and black paint. In them, I use imprints of cartridges — a gift from a friend serving in the military — as well as imprints of vintage embroidered towels found at a flea market. These elements form the Tree of Life as a symbol of strength, resilience, and memory. The construction mesh functions as a metaphor for the physical and spiritual foundation upon which the form of existence is held.

This series is an act of contemplation and archiving, an attempt to capture the moment when Ukrainians — despite everything — continue to create their own Tree of Life.
